Miss Jay’s ‘Flux EP’ is due out on Soul Feeder later this month. Pretty aptly, given the EP’s title, the 5-track release has a distinct sense of playful unpredictability, with the Amsterdam-based artist tackling and bending a wide span genres in a short but profound listen.
Located near the end of the EP, ‘Isolation’ is a heart-wrenching journey through mournful vocals and trance synth-lines affected with a heavy use of reverb. Her background in her hometown of Bucharest’s local metal scene and later transition to electronic music is pretty apparent with the mood and tonality throughout on the whole EP but it becomes especially clear on ‘Isolation’ with it’ slow build-up and break-down structure.
