Kim Kate is the musical project led by Korean producer/DJ Heewon Oh. He founded a label called Merci Jitter with Daniel Ness. Since his recent relocation to London, Kim Kate has been silently making waves in UK’s prominent dance scene by releasing an array of music incorporating an intelligent but varied selection of textures and styles to the sounds surrounding him.

‘Drug Culture’ is the 10th A/B side series E release from Honey Badger Records. All tracks were carefully designed, mixed for bringing the sonic narratives of an illegal rave, warehouse soundsystem. The title of each track is abbreviation of psychotic drugs, substances that often misused as the alternative of leisure drugs.

Our pick off the EP is the darker Techno track ‘TRZDN’, which we feel perfectly personifies the direction that Kim Kate set out at the beginning of this project. Through the gloomy build ups we’re then treated to rolling drum lines, which could only be at home on a large warehouse system.

‘Drug Culture’ will be released on July 7th.
