Last year, Cork-based collective Flood launched their label arm with the bold Volume 1 compilation. Since then each member has worked on refining their individual styles through the collectives’ underlying visceral themes, beginning with an introspective debut EP from co-founder Doubt.

On ‘Species EP,’ Doubt contrasts organic soundscapes with heavy percussive and mechanical elements; inspired by his view that our states of being are underpinned by a duality between our sense of what is natural and artificial and how this line becomes blurred in contemporary society.

On B-side ‘Whisper,’ Doubt lets his love of Tribal House and UK Funky shine through with the track’s transient drum structure and winsome synth line. We can definitely see this one doing some damage at an Even The Strong night some time in the near future.
