Oxford-based events and label imprint Deep Cover welcome Mike Drones to the roster with a 2-track offering of bassy remixes. The release is a taster of things to come with a forthcoming collaboration between Mike Drones & Roll Deep’s Manga and a full-length EP with frequent collaborator Löepa planned for the label.

On his edit of Clerk 37‘s “Xgile”, (first premiered by Insert contributor wgwn on NTS), the Leeds-based producer strips the track down to it’s composite elements and rebuilds a dread-tinged club track with lazer-like precision. This is not a view that Mike seems to share with us when we asked him about the edit:

“I put a perfectly decent song into broken hardware and belched it onto software. It’s a good job I’m friends with Clerk 37 because otherwise I’m sure we’d be having words.”

This track and Mike Drone’s remix of Casement & Magugu’s “DNT” is available from October 12th via Deep Cover.
