Club music has also had a comfortable relationship with the pop world with radio hits being mangled by underground producers and themes and imagery being sniped from above by creative agencies. Lorenzo BITW has made that paradigm irrelevant on his latest single, turning in a major, Summer-ready hit straight from the underground. Assisted by Ghanaian MC and singer Nawtyboi Tattoo (previous work with Slimdrumz and Gafacci), “Hello” is an afro beat love fest, all yearning vocals and sensual come ons, arranged flawlessly over Lorenzo’s sonorous keys and insatiable bass line.

London’s Mr. Mitch (Planet Mu, Boxed) provides a fittingly low slung remix on the b-side, flipping afro beat into lounge house. Think Mr. Eazi meets Al Green. The EP will be followed by Lorenzo’s debut album.
