Blue Medina is a new mini-compilation on Bad Taste Records, five tracks from new signings to the imprint as well as regulars, friends and fam. Strictly producer business on this one with instrumentals that stride through Grime and Bass music from Wumpa Fruit, Darkstorm, Shriekin’, Swarm & TSVI.

First track Don’t Talk is raw uncompromising Grime from Wumpa Fruit that sets the tone of the EP. Wumpa Fruit is a new production duo by Zubby & Timbah that is sonically rawer than Timbah’s solo creations but still has the recognisable traits of his music. Recent Timbah releases on Bad Taste Records have gained support from The Wire, Pitchfork, Mixmag, XLR8R & more. Timbah has also had radio play on Radio 1, 1Xtra, Rinse FM & XFM as well as DJ support from Karma Kid, Slugabed and Kahn & Neek.

Bad Taste Records co-founder Darkstorm moves things in a more eerie direction with New Ruins whilst keeping energy levels high. Shriekin’ Temple 2 introduces an otherworldly video game sound that’s akin to recent Fatima Al Qadiri or Murlo material. Shriekin’ was listed in FACT magazine’s top 10 Grime producers to watch in 2014 alongside radio play on Rinse FM & 1Xtra. Swarm strips things back for Elevator then TSVI deconstructs even more with Navigate – a cold, sparse track that’s remnant of Night Slugs L Vis 1990. TSVI is a new signing to Bad Taste and has had radio play on Radio 1Xtra & NTS Radio.

Blue Medina is available as a ‘name your price’ download via the Bad Taste Bandcamp.
